A Window Into Growing Up in Cuyahoga Falls

Every town keeps its memories somewhere. In Cuyahoga Falls, a great many of them live in the hallways, gymnasiums, band rooms and lunch lines of our schools. Those are the places where generations of Fallsites made lifelong friends, cheered on the Black Tigers, and carried home yearbooks full of signatures they still pull off the shelf decades later.

That history feels especially close right now. In January 2026, the Cuyahoga Falls City School District moved its middle and high school students into the new Cuyahoga Falls 6–12 Campus, closing one chapter of local school life and opening another. Moments like that are exactly why the Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society exists: to keep those memories within reach. In that spirit, our museum team has brought a slice of our collection out of the archive and onto the sidewalk, with a special window display celebrating the history of Cuyahoga Falls schools right in the heart of downtown.

What’s in the Cuyahoga Falls School Memorabilia Display?

The display gathers pieces from across the community’s school history—items that will spark instant recognition for anyone who grew up here.

Black Tigers pride: the mascot costume and letter jackets

Few symbols stir Falls pride like the Black Tigers. The display includes the costume for the Cuyahoga Falls High School Black Tigers mascot, alongside letter jackets earned on the field, the court and the track. For alumni, it is a reminder of Friday nights and packed gyms; for younger visitors, it is a look at the traditions that came before them. Today’s Black Tigers carry those traditions forward—follow them at Cuyahoga Falls Athletics.

Yearbooks, school beanies and grade-school milk tokens

Flip back through time with vintage Cuyahoga Falls High School yearbooks, classic school beanies, and one of the display’s most charming details: the small milk tokens grade-school students once used at lunchtime. It is the everyday objects like these that bring childhood rushing back.

Band uniforms and concert albums

The music of Cuyahoga Falls schools gets its due, too. Band uniforms and concert albums recall the marching band’s halftime shows, parades and spring concerts—a soundtrack many families still remember.

Why 2114 Front Street Is the Perfect Home for This Exhibit

The display is housed in the front window of Circle Prime Manufacturing at 2114 Front Street. Many longtime residents will recognize the address as the former home of Woolworth’s, the five-and-dime where countless Falls kids spent allowance money and picked up school supplies.

That makes the location a fitting one. Front Street has been the commercial heart of Cuyahoga Falls for generations, and the block sits within the Cuyahoga Falls Downtown Historic District. Many residents remember the decades when it was a pedestrian mall; the street reopened to cars in 2019 after more than 40 years. Placing school memories in a storefront so many people already associate with growing up here connects two chapters of our shared history in a single window.
